John Peel And A Party

I don't normally write very much about what goes on in my everyday life but i might as well today because i sincerely have nothing political to say at the moment.

Suffice to say the weekend went well. I say it went well, i was cold and soaked to the skin for forty eight hours but thems the breaks. I'm currently staying in halls because my house is being renovovated. This is interesting because everybody else on the hall are freshers, and they are all blokes. It's akin to animal house. I don't spend a lot of time there.

Went out to the union yesterday night, it was billed as being a DJ in the bar night but owing to the sad news of John Peel's death the night was hastily rejigged into a tribute to him. The ex ents officer who was a big fan made a quick speech followed by a toast and then swiftly whacked Teenage Kicks onto the soundsystem. It was quite moving.

Came back to my halls to find that there was a full scale party going on in my corridor. Lots of student hijinks. Apparently three of the blokes had nicked one of the guys beds and hidden it somewhere. When he noticed the large hole in his room they told him they had taken it to the most rabidly anti-student pub in town. So he went down there and drunkenly asked the landlord for his bed back. I'm surprised he walked away unscathed.

Anyway sum total of the damage:

-Toilet door smashed
-Toilet seat broken
-Three smashed glasses
-Ambulance called for drunken person twice
-Police called once (god knows what for)

I assure you dear reader i was complicit in none of this, i was actually quite sober.

The entire corridor has been threatened with a fifty quid fine each. I shan't pay, i've only been there two nights.

Oh those fresher antics "who's taken my frying pan!?", "my student loan will last forever!", "snakebite doesn't taste so sickly sweet if you down it quickly!", etc. etc.

Chin up, you'll soon be back in your own place.
